College Bound

I registered for College last week online. I am really starting to look forward to heading back to school in the evenings again, as much as it will take into my “free” time and my current workload I am ready for the challenge.

I will be taking one Child Psychology course which I need as a prerequisite in September. Then I am going to begin doing my Special Education Citation for Early Childhood Education the following semester (January 09). I do not think I will be finished everything until the December 2009! As the courses I need to take are not available during the summer semester. Mark your calenders everyone as there will be a big celebration in early January 2010 when I am FINISHED! (That is until I decide to head back to school to take yet another program in Special Education and take the Educational Assistant program! - I am just a school wanting to learn machine!)

Who would have known that when I first started doing my Early Childhood Education Program in 2003 that I would want to continue exploring and learning to expand on what I had learned though my experiences. When I started going to school to become an early childhood educator it was just “something to do” as I had wanted to get out of retail and find a career. I am proud to say, I have found my career and though my work experiences I know I want to work with children who require extra support. How I have grown.

Completed

I have finished my 500 experience hours to obtain my Early Childhood Education. My boss wrote in our communication book that she will write the letter of reference for me this week. I am so happy, finally the end is here and I have accomplished something major. Though I am not going to knock myself down because I could have had all of the requirements finished three years ago. Ooh well, better late than never!

Once I receive the letter from my boss stating how many hours I have worked (451hr) I will then mail out my school transcript, my two letters stating the hours worked totaling over 600hr, a copy of my criminal record check, and a copy of my first aid certificate. I will then have to wait 4 - 6 weeks for my Certificate in Early Childhood Education to arrive. It is a fancy piece of paper from the government stating that I am capable of working with children in a safe and able to develop developmentally proper activities.

Such a relief.

Well I am finished my practicum. I feel pretty good about it. I handed in my workbook and now I just need to wait for my results. I am always anxious and I want my “Credit” so I can fully move on with everything. I hate waiting.

I am happy to be back at my new job. There are some things that I do not agree with going on, but honestly I am just going to wait until the owner shows up and I can speak to her privately, as I do not want to mess with pissing anyone off. I am just here to do my job, keep the kids safe and happy. I guess I am just extremely by the book that I am not use to slack rule following. I use to be like that when I first started.

Last weekend me and Bryan and some of our really good friends went on holidays together. It was great. We had gone up to my friends grandparents house on this lake near 70 Mile House. (6+ Hour Drive) It was so nice being able to have such a nice relaxing holiday. We had headed up on Thursday morning, and left Sunday afternoon. My friends family was also up at this house, cousin (+ husband & 2 kids), mom, step-dad, sister (+ husband) and of course my friends Grandma who had lived in this house for over 25 years previously. It was a great time. We spent our time relaxing on the lake front, boating, exploring, swimming, and of course 4×4ing in the back woods getting lots and lots of mud on the truck. I will have some pictures up in my facebook profile, so if you are a ‘real’ friend then you will get to see the pictures. I might put some pictures up in my flickr account but I am not sure yet.

I am just excited about the Labour day weekend coming up. More holiday relaxation time. I’m heading up to my cabin.
