Our Vacation!
I am writting out the day by day adventures from my holidays below. It is long. Feel free to read it all or just skim over each day or whatever. It is very very long…. I warned you.
I will be adding some images soon from flickr. If you are a friend of mine on Flickr you can already see my pictures I have uploaded. Feel free to take a look though the 500+ new pictures I have uploaded from our holiday!
July 11 (Friday) - We left YVR at 10:30pm PST and arrived at Toronto’s Person Airport at 6am EST.
July 12 (Saturday) - We went to Tim Hortons where we saw Gail and grabbed some food. (Breakfast sandwich, and apple juice) and headed to Bryan’s dad’s place where we slept until around 10:30am. We walked around Oakville and headed down to the pier. Dinner that night we got Salads form the local Grocery Store where you pick from a wide variety of pre-made salads and you can pick which type of dressing to have on top! Yumm!
July 13 (Sunday) - Woke up around 10am and we took the GoTrain into Toronto. We headed to Rogers Center to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play the New York Yankees with Bryan’s Dad. Jay’s Win 4-0! I bought myself a Blue Jays hat as I had forgotten my baseball hat at home. We at consession food for lunch during the game (Pizza & Pop) and had a giant freeze during the game. We took the GoTrain back to Oakville and that night for dinner we had Steaks and Greek Salad. After dinner we had some drinks, and I got a little wasted.
July 14 (Monday) - We had breakfast at the Sunnyside Grill at around 11am. Then we took a cab to the Go Train Station which cost $8. We took the train into Toronto where we headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame. We even had our picture taken with the Stanley Cup! We spent a few hours there seeing and doing all the interactive things there. Bryan thought the old bank vault doors in the room with the Stanley Cup were really cool, so he played with them as they were very heavy.
We walked up Yonge Street during rush hour. It was like watching lemmings and all the people leaving their work and heading to the train station or subways. We found a pizza place on the corner and grabed a bite to eat we continued to people watch. Then we headed to The Bay in hopes that I could find a bathing suit, the only suit that I liked was not the one on sale. We exited out on Queen street and decided to go and find the Much Music building, we started walking. Many blocks later as we started to enter into a less populated area plus the people began to appear more down and out we finally stopped and looked at a map at a gas station. Turns out we were heading in the wrong direction. We had been walking for nearly an hour in the wrong direction. If we had just walked in the correct direction it would have taken us less than 10min to get to where we were trying to go! Gurr! During our walk towards the Much Music building we stopped in at a few stores so I could rest as I had really bad cramps from walking so much. I found a bathing suit for $15 at Bluenotes, and it fit perfecetly! Once we were at the MM building we just looked around outside, no filming being one while we were there. We ate dinner at a near by bar called “Black Bull” and headed back towards Union Station (Train Station) We missed out train back to Oakville by at least 5 minutes, so we had to wait for another hour for the next one to come. We arrived in Oakville at 11pm and Bryan’s dad picked us up from the station.
July 15 (Tuesday) - Canada’s Wonderland!
We were able to borrow Gail’s car and we left at 8:30am after taking Gail to work for 7am and arrived at the theme park at 11am! We then realized that we had left our backpack which our towels and change of clothing in it. We were wearing our bathing suits under our clothing.
The first ride we went on was the Behemoth! It was so much fun, so high, so fast and the line up for it was extremly long. Over an hour long! Then after we went on the big swings (Swings of the Century) to do something that did not have such a long lineup. We ate lunch after where I hate a plate of Spaghetti w/ meat sauce (very good!) and Bryan had a cheeseburger and fries. After lunch we went on the Log Ride (Timberwolf Falls), we got soaking wet. As we were in line these girls who must have been about 10 years old asked me if I was planning on wearing the clothing I was currently wearing. They told me I should change into my swimsuit or else I’ll get soaked! The girls were right, as we were about to get on the ride the people getting off were dripping wet! We both quickly stripped down to our bathing suits and even removed our shoes! There was no way we were taking any chances with having our stuff get soaked!
We decided to continue with our water ride adventures and next up was the White Water Canyon, which is a Giant tube like river rafting ride. This was another very long lineup, we ended up coming out dryer than the other passengers in our tube raft thing. Then we found ourselves in the children’s area of the park and there was a roller-coaster. It was an upside down type rollercoaster that is designed for children to go on! There was a bunch of children as young looking as 5, it was called “Silver Streak”. We then did another Roller Coaster called “Thunder Run” which is a really fast wooden roller coaster, it reminded me a little bit of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disneyland, the roller coaster was inside the giant mountain in the middle of the park. Then we did Bumper Cars, and after that we watched part of this “Dive Show” in the central water area, there was some crazy trampoline tricks going on and high diving. They made it all look so easy and flawless!
We finally came to our shortest line up at the “Dragon Fire” rollercoaster, we pretty much just walked right onto the ride. Then we came to another short line up at “Wild Beast” which is a large old fashioned wooden roller coaster. There was major bumps and bruises on that one! After all those bumps we rewarded ourselfs with some Starbucks and cooled down with some Fraps as we watched the people on the “Xtreme Flyer” I would have loved to have tried it, but my fear of hights and sudden death by falling, plus the additional cost to go on the free falling slingshot type thing made us not want to go.
We also rode the “Backlot Stunt Coaster” and then after that road the “Skycoaster” which is a roller coaster that you stand up on! It was pretty crazy. We had tried to go and enjoy the water park area but it was already 7:30pm by that time and the Waterpark was closing in half an hour, and the whole park in an hour and a half. We decided to do one last roller coaster before we left and we road the Behemoth one last time!
Dinner that night we stopped by Boston Pizza and managed to find our way back to Oakville on the highways at night. We did not even get lost! We got back at around 10:30pm and were in bed by 11pm.
