Only two more weeks left until I am “technically” unemployed. I have already been booked as a sub for the first two weeks of July by my current employer. Simply because they like me more than alot of their other staff and would much rather have my knowledge and experience than someone else. Though I have been offered a part time position this september at a 3-5 center, and they are asking if I can work a day or two each week in July so I can familiarlize myself with the center, as well as get involved in the program planning and staff meetings, and year end dinners. I am just waiting to hear back from the owner of the center to know what exactly are my hours and says she wants me as she keeps telling me the days, but only says “afternoon” or “morning”. It is a little vague.
With my current employer I know for sure I am not going to miss them. Some of my co-workers get on my nerves alot, and totally piss me off. Just things that they say and do. Over reacting on certain things and then taking it out on all the children (eg. extra laps) simply because one child is being a total hardass/smart aleck. The only person I am going to miss is “the child”. I have been working with him one to one all year, and he has grown so much and taught me something new each and every day. I’m going to miss him, but I am hoping to continue to work with him and his family this september, perhaps part-time if I can.
Because of “the child” he has made me think about getting back to school to become an educational assistant. They are the ones who work with children who require extra support in the classroom, and assisting the main classroom teacher. It is only a 9 month full time course, perhaps I will do it once I finish my E.C.E.. As I need to find a solid career, that makes more money.
Facebook 5000 Update: The Contest was forced to close early due to facebook contacting the radio station personally about all the problems & complaints they were recieving. Turns out there are more people on facebook in vancouver than in New York and L.A. The station did hand out $1000 to the top five groups. I was not one of them, though I did manage to almost reach 100 members in three days! Thanks to all that helped support me.

awe, I think you should definitely go for the ed assistant. I’m all about furthering education, and would love to do so myself , hopefully this fall.
